UNISEAT

For the mid-term assignment of ARCH112 ; we were asked to work in groups of 4 and design and produce a seating unit made out of wood; to be installed in TEDU courtyard.

Our group designed a seating unit which is made up of simple form; I mean it is made up of cubic form. It has repetition with the simple form and it also can be varied. We studied with body postures and so people can sit or lie different positions.

OBSERVATION OF SPATIAL RELATIONS

Last friday, we went to METU(Middle East Technical University) to help us for our project “instascape”.We observed the spatial relations of the structure according to our keywords and hashtag of the instascape. After the site trip, I think for all of them the issue is more clear.

Before to mention about observations of spatial relations and conditions, I want to mention about our project “instascape”.First of all, we have interacted four instances and the field with keywords and hastag. Our keywords and hastag are related to spatial relations and conditions. My keywords are dominancy, dense and sparse, my hastag is centrality which is related to my keywords. And of course, I observed how can study effectively with my keywords and how can create spatial relations according to my keyword and how should interact field and instances.

My first observation is that our instances are look like structures and also our field is look like real field. In fact we produced and will produce real space in our instance. I think all of them found at least one example related to their own projects.

I just mention in my previous post, I want to strengthen the core in my field. As physically, in the middle there are a core and the instance surrounded the core. I think, the spatial relations of these places are related to my idea. In the middle, there are a core, and near the core there are spaces. If the spaces does not exist, the core also does not exist or the core is not stronger than now.

If we look at interaction between field and instances, during the trip it is more clear. There are transitions between fields and structure. In a lot of examples, transition is obvious. We can achieve this transition with using extended planes to define space.

RELIEF

We were expected to produce a relief from our info mapping studies.Variation and differentiation of relations first documented and later related through overlapping were to be expressed in the form of relief, which is composed of horizontal layers. The overall organization was expected to reflect the relations between the cores and zones. My relief has a core which is on the overlapped areas.
